You are invited to the Passing the Paintbrush Gallery show at Spinnboden Lesbian Archive on December 3 from 16-19.The exhibition will feature beautiful art by participants from the art and history workshops on Gertrude Sandmann, Lotte Laserstein, and Toni Ebel this fall. In each three-hour workshop, we explored the biographies of these incredible women and how their stories connect to Berlin, Mitte. We made our own art inspired by their techniques, motifs, mediums, and styles. You are welcome to stop by to celebrate the art and learning done during this project and admire and view our collective creative expressions.
Accessibility:
Wheelchair-accessible step-free entrance. The bathroom is not wheelchair accessible. Please come tested or take a covid test downstairs before coming to the event, and wear an FFP2 mask. This is a disabled run COVID-conscious space.
The workshop series and accompanying podcast (https://passingthepaintbrush.wordpress.com/) are intended to help people develop or discover their personal artistic practices through building connections and engaging with history about Queer Jewish artists who worked, lived, and loved in Berlin, Mitte. Guest Expert Clara Escalera provided historical insights and the guest art teachers Victoria Heifetz and Annelisa Leinbach skillfully guided us and provided instruction that inspired the creation of the displayed works. Anyone interested in these topics and viewing the art is invited to attend.
The project is supported by Aktionsfonds von Demokratie in der Mitte.
