About this Event

At the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, we believe meaning making around death is centered in the relationship with the deceased. This workshop focuses on grief surrounding the death of a partner. The in-person training will center a compassionate presence attuned to being with rather than fixing the pain that accompanies grief. Using the Wendt Center's "Grief Knot" framework, we'll explore the unique considerations and complications of a partners's death and how these Grief Knots can interfere with a client's capacity to stay connected with their loveed one and integrate their greif into their lives moving forward. Additionally, this training will explore the secondary losses that manifest after a partner's death and how the length of relationship and age of the client may influence the grieving process. This training will also touch on how to apply some of these concepts to a client's grief around divorce.

RECOMMENDATION: For participants with minimal grief experience, we would suggest taking Wendt’s Cultivating a Compassionate Presence to Support Grieving Humans in February 2024 as a companion to this training.
