About this Event
ParkBathe is a citizen-science project providing mindful walks and nature connection as a means to improve the health and wellbeing of people who might not normally engage in wellness activities. ParkBathe uses secular aspects of forest bathing, forest school and mindfulness and is simply walking slowly in a local green space whilst noticing our surroundings (no water is involved!)
The 1 hr guided sessions consist of small groups (max 12 people) in White Horse Road Recreation Ground run in collaboration with the Friends of group.
An Afternoon of Arts in the Park
2.15pm - 3.15pm - Conversations with a Dead Poet, an improvised interactive play that allows the audience ro find out more about the life and work of the deceased poet, James P.Hotchkiss. As Hotchkiss himself will be having a late lunch, the audience is welcome to take part in the picnic by bringing their own beverages, sandwiches, samosas etc.
3.30pm - 4pm - A Poetic Ramble, in which the ghost of Hotchkiss will lead a walk around the park, and the best entries of the Poetry in the Park Competition, that have been fixed to trees, will be read aloud. 4.15pm - 5pm - The Big Fat Tea Party, a chance to wind down with tea and cake, share memories of Selhurst, blow a few bubbles and even sing a few songs.3.30pm - 4pm - A Poetic Ramble, in which the ghost of Hotchkiss will lead a walk around the park, and the best entries of the Poetry in the Park Competition, that have been fixed to trees, will be read aloud. Over the last year we have taken over 350 people on walks and collected a wealth of health data. These results are currently being published in two papers.
