Meeting place - Meet at the MG John F. Reynolds and family gravesite around the entry circle.Planned Activities - Cleaning headstones, gravestones and monuments; clearing brush, raking leaves and collecting debris; cutting of high grass.
History or Educational Activities - Biographies of Civil War veterans interned in the GAR Plot as well as in the broader cemetery will be available to read. Discussions of Civil War topics, specifically those of the Battle of Gettysburg, and the campaigns of the 79th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry may be held.
Should I bring any tools or supplies? - (1) For cleaning of memorials - While the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Camp members will provide some extra materials - soft-bristle brushes, bucket, gloves, sponge, spray bottle and water - volunteers are welcome to bring along to assist. D2 solution will be provided. (2) For groundskeeping - W**d-whackers, rakes, grass shears will be provided, however more would be welcome.
Is there a rain date? - In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
Please note - Coffee and donuts will start the day, other (healthier) snacks would be welcome.
