This month MoA+L will celebrate the Impressionist master Pierre-Auguste Renoir's birthday in our very own "Paris on the Prairie" family day event. This drop-in family day program will celebrate aspects of 19th-century Parisian life and feature an array of drop-in hands-on activities inspired by elements of Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s artwork.FREE activities in the museum atrium for ALL—while those paying general museum admission will be able to take part in additional activities in our De Coded and Fine Arts galleries on floors two and three.
Activities Include:
- Paper hat making using 1890s Victorian era inspired vintage hats
- Prairie games of the late 1880s-early 1900s, hosted by the Flint Hills Discovery Center
- Fashion selfie-portrait station using 19th century Paris props of the Textile Museum at KSU
- Luncheon of the "Boating Party" selfie station (Floor 3)
- Animation station (Digital Accelerator Learning Lab - Floor 3) kids will make a story board, and/or paper articulated animals that move—and parents can help them make a short stop motion video using a cell phone and app.
- Partaking in a Passport Scavenger Hunt on multiple gallery floors, and much more!
