Parenting in today's modern world presents unique challenges, as unprecedented stressors permeate every level of society. To navigate these complexities, parents require a safe, supportive community and practical, actionable insights to manage stress effectively and confidently guide their children.
This introductory class, rooted in the principles of Positive Discipline, delves into the challenges parents face in raising children, the essential life skills and traits we hope to instill in them as they grow into adulthood, and the parenting tools, principles, and strategies that serve as a bridge to nurturing capable, resilient, and socially responsible individuals.
In this course, we will explore three key perceptions to foster in children to help them develop into capable individuals, as well as two universal, transcultural needs that are fundamental to preparing children to thrive in an uncertain world. During this class, you will engage in experiential learning, acquire valuable skills, and discover strategies to enrich your parenting toolkit. You will leave empowered to cultivate these skills and meet these critical needs in your children. Join us as we embark on this journey to build stronger, more resilient families in today’s ever-changing world.
“I took the Positive Discipline workshop with Deborah years ago, when I had a child in 3rd grade and two high schoolers. It completely opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about my parenting. As an educator and a parent, I became much more aware of how my responses to my children’s behavior gave me critical clues to uncover the needs behind those behaviors. I still think about those lessons to this day and use them to support all the kids in my life and to strengthen our relationships. It was truly life-changing.”
