We invite Parents, Teachers, and Professionals working with adolescents to our Keynote Talk, in VSA’s Digital Wellbeing series, by Dr Linda Charmaraman.
Dr Charmaraman will explore the intersection of technology and mental health for young people, drawing from her extensive academic and practical research on the impact of social media and AI. She will cover research-driven strategies to support "Digital Flourishing" in our young people. Attendees will gain insights into fostering a balanced, intentional relationship with technology across both home and school environments.
About the speaker:
Dr. Charmaraman is a senior research scientist at the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. She earned her PhD in Human Development and Education from UC Berkeley and is the founder and director of the Youth, Media, & Wellbeing Research Lab. As a leading expert in adolescent technology use, Dr. Charmaraman co-authored the American Psychological Association’s (APA) 2023/24 advisory on social media and the 2025 advisory on the use of AI and adolescent wellbeing. She also serves as a consultant for the Google Kids and Families Team and Common Sense Media, with her work frequently featured in the media, including The New York Times and NPR.

Linda Charmaraman 博士是衛斯理學院衛斯理女性中心的高級研究科學家。她於加州大學柏克萊分校(UC Berkeley)獲得人類發展與教育博士學位,並創辦了「青少年、媒體與康健研究實驗室」並擔任主任。作為青少年科技使用領域的頂尖專家,Charmaraman 博士共同撰寫了美國心理學會(APA)2023/24 年度關於社交媒體的指引,以及 2025 年關於人工智能與青少年福祉的應用指引。此外,她亦擔任 Google 兒童與家庭團隊及 Common Sense Media 的顧問,其研究成果經常刊登於《紐約時報》及美國國家公共廣播電台(NPR)。
