Having a learning disability or difficulty can be very challenging. Not only does it affect academic performance, but it can also have a significant and long-lasting effect on a student’s psychological and socioemotional development. Whilst it is common for children to experience worries and feel anxious at times, it is not surprising that a child with Dyslexia or other learning difficulties may also experience anxiety as they can be faced with frustrating or stressful situations throughout their day at school. The first step in being able to support someone who is experiencing increased levels of anxiety is being able to understand it. This workshop will look at why anxiety occurs and the signs to be aware of. It will also provide some helpful strategies on how to support children experiencing these challenges.
This session is free and will be suitable for parents or interested school staff.
