Parent-Child Vegetarian Sushi Cooking Class

While most people associate “Sushi” with raw fish, it is actually a way of preparing rice served with a variety of fillings and toppings. In this class, adult-child pairs will make delicious, unique vegetarian sushi rolls, featuring not only traditional Japanese flavors, but also fun innovative flavors. Class will start with the basics of preparing Shari rice, which is essential for any type of sushi (as “sushi” refers to the rice). Then while the rice cooks, participants will help to prepare the fillings and toppings, then finish the rice and begin the fun part: rolling and forming sushi for a vegetarian sushi feast! On the menu: Shari Rice; Dashi; Miso Soup with Tofu and Scallions; and these Sushi roll options: Miso-Glazed Carrots; Gingered Soba Noodles; Tomago; Soy-Marinated Mushrooms; and Crispy Teriyaki Tofu.
