Please join us for this informal event for parents & carers of autistic children. The theme for this month is Mealtimes and Food.
About this Event

The theme for this meet up is Mealtimes and Food. Dr Jo Billington from the Wellbeing Hub will be presenting aspects of her research with autistic children in mainstream primary schools and inviting discussion on the themes raised.

This Meet Up features a talk from Natalie Ellison

Natalie is a Research Assistant and PhD student in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading. Her research focuses on autistic children’s eating habits and mealtime behaviours.

In this talk, she will be sharing an overview of the studies that make up her PhD research. Natalie is passionate about co-creation of research and working closely with parents and caregivers to ensure research truly reflects real family experiences.

Natalie would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on her current work, and she's also looking to connect with parents and caregivers who might be interested in collaborating on future studies.

Description

Hosted by the Centre for Autism Wellbeing Hub at the University of Reading in partnership with Reading-based charity Parenting Special Children, these relaxed monthly meet-ups offer parents and carers of autistic children a welcoming space to connect, share experiences, and gain valuable insights from the latest autism research conducted at the University of Reading and beyond.

Each session begins with a brief talk from a member of the Wellbeing Hub team related to the monthly theme, followed by informal discussions where families can discuss their experiences, exchange knowledge and share expertise. Refreshments will be available.

Spaces are limited to allow for meaningful conversations and discussion, so we encourage you to book early to secure your spot.

More information including how to find us will be sent to attendees on booking. Please email us if we can offer any assistance: [email protected].

For those who have previously attended our monthly meet-ups, please note that we will be meeting in Henley Business School- however this may be subject to change if our usual space becomes available. Please refer to your confirmation email for details.
