The Community Forum is a chance to find out about the University's community activity, share your views and connect with University staff.
About this Event

The University of Reading are excited to welcome you to the Autumn Community Forum 2025.

Following its popularity in Summer 2024, this special edition of the event will include a panel consisting of the University, Reading Students' Union, Thames Valley Police, Reading Borough Council and Wokingham Borough Council. Guests will have the opportunity to present questions to the panel.

Hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, this is your opportunity to find out more about the University and Reading Student Union's community activity, share your feedback on our work and raise any challenges which can be addressed directly.

Come along to connect with University staff and build stronger relationships to encourage better collaboration between the University and the local area.

The event includes a hot buffet and refreshments.

This event is free and open to anyone in the local community.

You must register for a free ticket to attend the Community Forum.

Programme:

Doors open from 18.00

18.00-18.30- welcome and arrival, food to be served.

1 8.30-18.35 - welcome from the Vice Chancellor.

18.35-18.45 - introduction to Connect Reading - partnership working with the University.

18.45-18.55 - introduction to the panel and group discussion.

18.55-20.25 - panel discussion

You will be invited to discuss and agree questions on your table that you would like to pose to the panel.

The panel will be chaired by Lorraine Briffitt, Connect Reading CEO.

Panel will be formed of:

University of Reading - Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice Chancellor

Reading Students' Union - Cat Redding, CEO

Reading Borough Council - Cllr Micky Leng, Deputy Council Leader

Wokingham Borough Council - Cllr Stephen Conway, Council Leader

Thames Valley Police - Emma Tompkins, Chief Inspector and Neighbourhood Command, Berkshire West LCU

Location - the Community Forum is being held at Eat at the Square, Whiteknights Campus.

Parking - we would encourage the use of public transport where possible.

Sat nav postcode Whiteknights Campus is RG6 6UR.

All car parks on Whiteknights Campus are free to park in after 5pm. The closest car parks to Eat at the Square are Car Parks 10 and 15.

Public transport - the 21 and 20 bus routes run regularly between Lower Earley, the town centre and University, with a stop on Whiteknights Campus.

Dietary requirements and allergies - if you have any dietary requirements or allergies please let us know by emailing [email protected] by Monday 3 November.

Environmental sustainability - cups will provided, however you are encouraged to bring your own reusable cup to support the environmental sustainability of the event.
