About this Event
Hang out with other parents and baby caretakers for a day of coffee, playing, hiking and scoping some incredible views of Los Angeles. Families of all kinds are welcome to come hang out and watch our babies interact, observe and play in the good ol' outdoors. Dads, grandparents, non bio parents, queer parents, nannies, family members...this is a group for all of us who care or have cared for little ones aged 0-3. This experience is beautiful and tough. Doing it together will make all the difference!

What to Expect:
8:00-10:30a : Cafe & Playground Meet
10:30-11:15a: Hike to Observatory (100% optional. Hike is intermediate level)
11:15-12:00p: Scenic Picnic/Rest
12:00-12:45p: Group Descent Hike (Or stay to picnic more or visit the Observatory inside)

Location Deets:
Stop 1:
This cafe looks like it's straight out a storybook. Snag a picture in line while you review their menu of cafe drinks, food and treats including great vegan options. There are plenty of spots to sit and finish eating before coming to the playground across the street if you'd like.
Stop 2: Playground & Restrooms
Located across the street from The Trails Cafe, this playground has high end equipment and huge, clean, private restrooms steps away.
Stop 3: (totally optional and extra)
This "is a unique hybrid of public observatory, planetarium, and exhibition space". While our group plans to picnic & sightsee outside the building, you are so encouraged to take the chance to go inside and explore the observatory! From the outside we'll be able to see DTLA buildings, dozens of LA neighborhoods, the Hollywood sign and more.
Parking:
Option 1: Free street parking in front of cafe
Option 2: Free parking lot north of Trails Cafe, passing playground on right. (Western Canyon rd. wraps around this lot on the map).
For wheelchair accessible routes, please use Google Maps App, set the starting point to 'your location' once parked/dropped off and enter "Happier Cafe" for 'choose destination'. Press the three dots at the top and the click 'options'. Toggle the 'wheelchair accessible' tab to "ON". This should help give the most clear passageway to the spot.
**Also Highly Recommended to use Google Maps 'Walk' setting for easy guidance to the spot if mobility isnt an factor. Still super helpful**

-Respect & consent are #1. We share stories but avoid unsolicted advice or put downs. No hate or discrimination.
-Parents model healthy interactions including helping little ones keep hands, mouths and feet to themselves and speak kindly.
-Parents are hands-on and engaged. Never leaving their baby unattended or attended by another parent without explicit communication.
-Ask permission to share foods between babies or to touch another child even to help.
-Please, no pet dogs or children over the age of three years old.
-No promotions unless approved by group leaders in advance. We would love to collaborate with you and give you time to spotlight your business.
