Established in 1836, the Missouri State Penitentiary stands as one of the oldest and most infamous prisons west of the mighty Mississippi River. Throughout its long and storied history, this formidable institution has housed a cadre of notorious inmates whose deeds have become the stuff of legend. Among its most infamous residents were the likes of bank robber and escape artist John “Jack” R. W. “Black Jack” Barlow, whose audacious crimes and daring escapes captivated the public imagination, as well as James Earl Ray, the man convicted of assassinating civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Their presence alone lent an air of notoriety to the Pr*son, amplifying its already dark reputation.
For 168 harrowing years, the penitentiary witnessed an unending stream of tragedies and horror. Executions were carried out with a chilling finality, while violent skirmishes among inmates coursed through its shadowy halls, carving a legacy steeped in anguish and turmoil. Event Time: 8:00 PM—3:00 AM (late entries will not be permitted; they lock the doors promptly at 8:00 PM). If you have issues arriving on time, please call 816.600.0295 at least four hours before the event starts to contact Mike and Sam.
Please note: We do not monitor our phones, laptops or other devices after 4:00 PM on the event day.
Driver's license is required to show proof of purchase by the ticket holder or state issued id.We are not responsible for your valuables, so leave them at home. Anyone suspected of drinking or doing drugs will not be permitted to attend the event. The property is monitored. This is a fun, friendly event; leave the drama at home!
