Join us for paper mache sugar skull mask decorating in honor of Dia de Muertos. Throughout Mexican history, even in pre-Columbian times, mask making was central to the indigenous peoples of Mexico. With Dia de Muertos the skeleton mask is a way to participate in the holiday, which is celebrated not only in Mexico, but in Mexican communities across the United States. The sugar skull mask is a way to remember those that have passed and the reality of the life, death and rebirth that indigenous cultures embraced. There is also a playfulness and creativity that Mexicans have developed through the generations with the realities of death. Death is not separate in Mexican culture but is an inherent part of life's teachings. $15/person. Registration begins 10/1/24
