Wednesday, April 25, 12:00 Noon - This Signature Series event will feature Joshua P. Darr, Associate Professor, Communications, Newhouse School, Syracuse University. The event will fall outside of our usual schedule and take place at the Quaker Station on the campus of The University of Akron. The topic will be, “Why Local News Can Slow Polarization.”
Thursday, April 25, 5:30 pm - The follow-up Bringing it Home event which explores the Signature Series topic with a panel of regional news leaders and will take place at the Akron Art Museum.
About the Bringing It Home Panel Discussion:
The following week, Akron Roundtable hosts a Bringing It Home program, where attendees will dig deeper into the topic from the Signature Series event with an in-depth look at how it plays out in the local landscape. A panel of local news experts will explore the role media plays in the Greater Akron area and will address issues raised at the April 17 event. The event will take place Thursday, April 25, 2024, 5:30 pm and will be held in the Charles and Jane Lehner Auditorium at the Akron Art Museum (One South High Street).
The event will begin at 5:30 pm with a moderated discussion lead by Mizell Stewart, Professional-in-Residence, Kent State University School of Media and Journalism. The session will end with a Q&A from the audience. Following the formal presentation, guests will be invited to mingle with the presenters while enjoying appetizers and beverages.
Admission includes presentation, appetizers and one drink ticket. Open seating in the auditorium (no tables for this event).
