A festal service of sung evening prayer, commonly known as Evensong, will be offered on Palm Sunday, March 29, at 4:00 in the Bank Barn by the choirs of St. Peter’s Church in the Great Valley under the direction of organist and choir director Steven Patchel. Evensong is a beautiful way to complete the weekend and begin a new week.St. Peter's choirs will be joined by a consort of viols da gamba in music of the late Renaissance/Early Baroque by William Byrd, Thomas Morley and Orlando Gibbons. The sounds of the viola da gamba are soothing and melancholic, characteristic of the late Renaissance, creating a unique ambience for this evening musical offering.
A light reception will follow. All are welcome -- please bring a friend!
