Palestine - Peace, Action and Possibility - A Community Gathering
Do you feel helpless or stuck with how to respond to the crisis in Palestine?
Do you have endless questions? Are you raging inside? Overwhelmed, grief stricken or afraid? Unsure what to do?
We all feel this, we can all relate: you are not alone.
Join us (Totnes Friends of Palestine and others)
on Tuesday July 2nd in the evening, from 6.45 - 9.30pm

By donation: Pay what you feel / what you can. From £1 to £100. All proceeds, after expenses, go to MAP.
N.B. Doors open 6.45 for a prompt start from 7pm, when doors close.
This is an event for all of us, an opportunity to come together, explore our emotional responses, hear from others and be heard. At times like these, and as we continue into the future, we must be well resourced to face the troubles in Palestine. Taking action or being involved in some way to support the Palestinian people, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the Israeli Occupation is more sustainable done in connection, allowing us to be gently, yet powerfully, changed in the process.
We will facilitate a simple participatory process for all voices and feelings to be heard, we’ll hear briefly from local people and groups who are taking action in lots of different ways, and we’ll support everyone to think about how they want to respond - individually and collectively - moving forward.
The Context:
If we choose to look, we are witnessing in graphic detail a Genocide happening in front of our eyes in Palestine.
Thousands of people have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank in the last 9 months, including 15,0000 children. By the time we gather on July 2nd, these numbers will be higher.

It is very hard to witness, and with the onslaught of such killing and injustice it is hard to imagine that anything we can do individually has much impact. Added to this are the historical and ongoing complexities of the global situation and how polarizing the conversation can become - it can be so hard to make sense of this and challenging to find a voice within it all. It is easy to turn away, to feel impotent, frozen and hopeless.
You are not alone. Together we are stronger.
The Event:
Held by experienced facilitators, this is a gathering to help face what is happening together, where you will be invited to share in pairs and small groups and to meet each other in different ways in relation to the times we’re in.
Your anger, your fear, your sadness, your hopelessness is welcome.
Your curiosity, passion and open hearts are welcome too.
We will also hear from people in and around Totnes who have found different ways to do something - to respond in a way that they can - and, most importantly, who have found a way to do that together. From art auctions to direct action, from vigils to boycotts, fundraising to awareness raising and more…
When we are faced with such inhumanity, injustice, and death, simply taking action, even without being sure of the outcome, is deeply fulfilling and supportive. At the very least, you are doing it for yourself, your own sanity - and who knows what ripples might reach the right places…
Come and hear from each other, and you might be inspired to find your own way to respond, or find more resilience and companionship in what you’re already doing.
Because this is a participatory event and we will journey together through the evening please arrive 6.45 for a 7 prompt start we will close the doors at 7.00
