The Honourable Harvest Project - How might we improve our relationship with the land by viewing it as kin, rather than just a resource?
About this Event

Bowden Pillars Futures is stewarding 123 acres of land, and more if we think about the effects that our decisions have outside of our legal boundaries. The Honourable Harvest project is predominantly focussed on the Village and Regenerative Agriculture area although thoughts may also spill over into some kind of conversation with the 75 acres of Devon Wildlife Trust land.

We are asking ourselves an overall question in thinking about the Land - What might be the ‘Doing’ that could happen on the land at Bowden?

We are planning to live this question through two overlapping questions:1) Taking inspiration from a chapter in Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass, we are asking this question: How might we improve our relationship with the land by viewing it as kin, rather than just a resource?2) Thinking about what might happen on the land, we are asking this question: What might be best suited for the land as we understand its needs better?

We are starting to explore the first question by holding two introductory workshops on Tuesday 2nd July and the Tuesday 16th July 6pm to 8.30pm, and a final daytime workshop on Sunday 28th July from 10am - 1pm, followed by a shared community picnic lunch.

The sessions will build on each other so it is recommended to come to all sessions if possible. If you can only make one or two of the sessions, this is also fine. These are open to everyone who is interested in re-imagining our relationship with land, and anyone who is interested in any land based activity of any kind. We are actively encouraging the latter group to attend, as we are seeking to build a community in alignment in how we all seek to use it.

The workshops will be facilitated by embodied presence guide and song leader Fran André. Using a mixture of group circle enquiries, paired enquiries, group singing and meditation, Fran will facilitate a space for us to drop into our full embodiment with the invitation to listen from our whole ‘being-ness’. From this counter cultural disposition we will explore together what a deeper relationship with the land may feel and look like, and how this deeper connection might inform the activities and direction of the project.

If you are interested in attending to be part of this journey please book here. The suggested donation per session is £5 - £15, and if you are unable to give a donation at this time, please feel free to book a free ticket with our blessing.
