Visual anthropologist and professional photographer David Metcalf travelled through Pakistan in August last year and now invites you to experience a powerful visual narrative drawn from that remarkable journey. His presentation places special focus on the indigenous Kalash people, with whom he spent eight days living, photographing, and observing their enduring connection to the natural world. Despite their proximity to the Afghan border and the conservative forces surrounding them, the Kalash continue to uphold their ancient animist beliefs with resilience, dignity, and a fierce cultural identity.
The journey also explores the dramatic landscapes of the Hindu Kush, a region defined by soaring mountains, remote valleys, and striking high-altitude light. Complementing this are vibrant street photography sequences captured in Peshawar and Islamabad, offering a window into the dynamic urban life of Pakistanās historically layered cities.
