A 'Groundbreakers'-inspired workshop with Anita DeSoto
A stand-alone, hands-on workshop inspired by the artworks in the exhibition Groundbreakers, designed by painter Anita DeSoto. This session will begin with an introduction to ink wash portraits covering foundational portraiture techniques, and then will move into the exhibition to draw directly from the artworks and create collaged responses which explore tone, and contemporary compositions.
Anita DeSoto is a painter and educator based in Ōtepoti. DeSoto has had over 20 years of experience exhibiting paintings nationally and internationally, and teaching Drawing and Painting at the Dunedin School of Art. Her recent work pays homage to the Baroque era while highlighting the ongoing struggle for women’s rights.
All materials provided. This workshop is designed for adults, suitable for ages 14 and older.
