$225.00, Saturday July 25, 10:30-5:30Join artist Kim Caldwell for a relaxed, immersive seven-hour plein air painting experience along the Edmonds waterfront. Known for her bold color and expressive brushwork, Kim will focus on gouache while welcoming you to work in whatever medium you prefer—gouache or acrylic.
Gouache has quickly become a favorite for artists on the go, thanks to its rich, vibrant color and ease of use outdoors. Throughout the day, you’ll explore the fundamentals of plein air painting, with an emphasis on simplifying shapes, capturing light, and building strong compositions.
Weather permitting, we’ll paint outside in Edmonds, taking in sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains and the shoreline in full summer color. If the weather turns, we’ll move into the studio at Cole Art Studio, where Kim will show you how to turn sketches, photos, and memories into finished paintings. With demos, group conversation, and individual guidance, you’ll gain practical tools for building a painting from start to finish—and learn how to bring more clarity and atmosphere into your work.
Perfect for all skill levels, this workshop is a great way to grow your plein air practice, explore gouache, and spend a creative day inspired by Edmonds’ natural beauty.
