In this workshop you will be introduced to painting with gouache, a versatile water-based medium known for its vibrant colours and textures. We will begin with some technique exercises to familiarize you with the paint, followed by some writing and reflection about the objects, plants, animals and places that are significant to you. We will then experiment with painting some of these symbols using gouache. Rather than creating realistic scenes, you will practice making different marks, shapes and patterns as you create a small personal narrative painting in a playful style. This workshop will invite you to consider your surrounding environment, as well as your own inner landscape, with new and personal meaning. No previous painting experience required, beginners welcome.
