About this Event
Join us for a laid-back, beginner-friendly painting workshop led by Philadelphia-based artist where you'll create a playful 'J walk' scene. Think custom shoes, bold pants, sidewalk details to individualize your 'stroll'.
You’ll learn the basics of:
• Composition & perspective
• Building a figure from sketch to canvas
• Color mixing
• Creating depth, movement, and mood
You’ll start by sketching your concept, then bring it to life with guided instruction on form and detail. Whether you copy Kaleigh's example or create something uniquely yours, you’ll leave with a finished piece ready to hang at home (and a new set of skills to match).
✨ No experience necessary
✨ All materials provided
✨ Good vibes (and time to unwind 🍃)included
About your instructor:
Kaleigh Quinnan explores gender as a visual commodity through drawing, painting, and performance. Across mediums, her work materializes as a suite of figures that playfully reject their status as an object and embrace agency over their narratives by challenging different perspectives on what it means to be consumed. The artist’s studio practice is currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Quinnan’s work has been published in E/X Journal Issue 01 (2025), Arts To Hearts Project's Studio Visit Book Volume 05 (2025), and Create! Magazine Issue 50 (2025). As of 2023, Quinnan's work is on display in The Pennsylvania State Capitol Building as a selected artist of House Representative Melissa Shusterman. Her work has previously been exhibited in Seattle at Fishbowl Gallery and in Philadelphia with The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (2023), Lather Salon (2024), and Downtown 500 (2024). She holds a B.F.A. in Drawing & Painting as well as a B.S. in French and Francophone studies from The Pennsylvania State University.
