About World Frog Day
World Frog Day is celebrated each year on March 20th, with a goal of raising awareness about amphibian conservation.
The Importance of Frogs
Frogs are an essential part of many ecosystems! For instance, frogs eat billions of insects each year, including bugs that carry diseases and disrupt agriculture. Amphibians also impact human well-being, helping with the advancement of medical research and ensuring the health of our wetlands, forests, and grasslands. Perhaps the most important role of frogs is their status as environmental indicators. When pollution or other environmental issues affect a habitat, frogs are often the first casualties. Frog population health is basically an early warning for endangered ecosystems. When we lose amphibians, we don't just lose beautiful, fascinating creatures-- we lose an essential species that holds our ecosystems together.
Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy
All proceeds from this workshop will be donated to ARC (Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy), a U.S.-based organization that protects endangered amphibians and reptiles. Feel free to learn more about the incredibly important work ARC does on their website!
