How would you feel if 1,450 of your paintings were used by soldiers—who had seized your home—as floor mats to keep their boots clean?Even after this, Camille Pissarro, the father of Impressionism, remained an optimistic and open-minded artist. L He experimented with various styles throughout his life and raised seven children—six of whom became artists themselves.
Even harsh criticism didn’t deter him. In one famous review, art critic Albert Wolff wrote, “Try to make M. Pissarro understand that trees are not violet, that the sky is not the color of fresh butter…” Yet Pissarro continued to grow, explore, and innovate.
Inspired by his boldness, we invite you to try something new too!
Join us on September 6 for an art workshop Paint like Camille Pissaro where we'll paint in the pointillist style—with skies the color of fresh butter.
We welcome all lovers of Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism!
