Please join us for the closing reception of PAGES TO PALETTE, an art show collaboration between The Local Hand and Just Bookish. This show features 10 local artists who created pieces of art directly inspired by Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower.
Butler foresaw many of the challenges we are experiencing today, and she left us guidance for how to build our communities and create a more just world. Art and literature are powerful tools in bringing people together, and our intention is for this project to promote artistic exploration, critical thinking, and a space for neighbors to heal and create together.
At the closing reception, we will hear from a few of the artists about their artistic inspiration and process. All guests will also have an opportunity to make their mark on a communal art piece, as well as vote for next year's Pages to Palette book selection.
