A Celebration of Cultural Narratives
This Marathi book reading event will celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage through four insightful works exploring literature, cinema and language. The first book, Shubhra Kaahi Jeevghene, vividly portrays the rebellious Sajjad Hussain, soulful Begum Akhtar, fearless Saadat Hasan Munto and melodious thumri queen Shobha Gurtu. Sundar Tee Dusri Duniya provides a glimpse into the golden era of Hindi cinema, recounting anecdotes from famed studios like Bombay Talkies and Ranjit Film Company. Daravalale Ithe Suvas features intimate portraits of film icons, including the lyrical Shailendra, golden-voiced Shamshad Begum and hauntingly melodic Madan Mohan. The final book, Chaukaat Udhalale Moti, traces the evolution of Urdu, highlighting the elegant Mir Taqi Mir, timeless Mirza Ghalib and sharp-witted Akbar Ilahabadi.
Culture chronicler Ambarish Mishra, voiceover artist Prasad Phanse and Dr. Shweta Pendse will take the audience through this cultural tribute.
