Behind the Door - Directed by Debbie Chambers. Written by Harley Westbrooks. In a courtroom, Ms. Lucinda Mendax stands accused of abandoning her daughter, Miss Pearl Sanat. As the trial unfolds, it becomes clear that Ms. Mendax is not the victim, but the perpetrator of emotional abuse, having suffocated her daughter with control disguised as love. Despite the truth being revealed, Ms. Mendax refuses to accept her actions, clinging to her pride and denial. The play ends with her trapped in her own personal hell—unable to face the consequences of her behavior, unable to let go of the chains she created for herself.
