Desert Island Theatre Company is thrilled to return to the Guild for a live reading of a brand new play by Prince Edward Island Playwright, Benton Hartley!Inspired by Hartley’s family history, Pagan North tells the story of Hudson Heaven, an Anglican priest who comes to own the island of Lundy, off the coast of Devon, after the death of his father. As he plans to build a church on the island, he comes into conflict with the local population who have their own ideas on how Rev. Heaven should spend his inheritance. As Heaven and the community begin to get to know each other better, secrets come to light, true motivations are made known, and the fate of the souls of everyone on Lundy hangs in the balance.
Performing in the reading is an-all Island company including Kassinda Bulger, Jacob Hemphill, John MacCormac, Melissa Mullen, Rebecca Parent, Graham Putnam, and Adi Vella, with dramaturgy by Lindsay Kyte.
The reading will be held at the Guild in Charlottetown at 7:30pm, with the doors opening at 7pm. Admission is by donation, and seating is first come, first served. The reading is made possible through the generous financial support of Innovation PEI through the PEI Arts Grant program.
