Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti is a mātauranga Māori centred training. This workshop explores the framework and how to apply it to clinical practice.
About this Event

Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti is an early intervention framework to engage with whānau and explore and address mild to moderate mental health concerns and alcohol and other drug concerns

This framework has been developed by Dr Andre McLachlan – Ngāti Apa, Muaūpoko and Dr Waikaremoana Waitoki – Ngāti Hako, Ngāti Mahanga. The training introduces a range of resources, practice tools and mātauranga Māori informed approaches to understand wellbeing and challenges, and to develop a pathway to wellbeing.

Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti is a two day training. One day (8hrs) self directed online (completed prior to attending in person workshop) and a one day in person skills workshop.

This Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti workshop is intended as a guide for practitioners who work in a range of primary mental health settings from Whānau Ora, health and community based social services. This can involve practitioners from a range of professions including (but not limited to): Whānau Ora navigators; Drug and Alcohol Practitioners; Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPS); Health coaches; Awhi Ora support workers; Community Health Workers; Peer Support Workers; Nurses; Midwives and Social Workers.

Participants successfully completing the training will gain access to a website with further resources and tools to support practice; and be eligible for an NZQA level 5, 5 credit micro-credential ‘Apply Māori principles and practice within early and brief interventions for mental health and addictions’.
