University of the Pacific's Conservatory of Music invites all interested musicians for a day of immersive double bass workshops and master classes for all ages and levels. Your instructors will be Pacific faculty Andrew Mell and Kathryn Schulmeister as well as guest artists Jason Heath, co-creator of Double Bass HQ, and Marlon Martinez, leader of the Marlonius Jazz Orchestra (Los Angeles).
SCHEDULE
9–9:30 a.m. Check-in (Buck Hall lobby)
9:30–10 a.m. Pacific faculty recital
10 a.m.–12 p.m. Rotating workshops:
- Warmups and fundamentals
- Advanced technique
- Intro to jazz improvisation
- Resources for independent learning
12–1 p.m. Lunch break
1–2 p.m. Master classes with Pacific faculty and guest artists
2– 3 p.m. Full group jam
