Pa la Nganduw Kedew – I Am Dingo Clan by artist Shaun Edwards, showcases his language revitalisation practice and creative work grounded in Kokoberrin cultural lore of the White Dingo.
The evening begins with an artist talk and in-conversation, offering insight into Shaun’s work bringing language back to life through contemporary creative practice as part of his Indigenous Languages Creative Arts Residency at State Library. A five-minute AI-generated video will be screened, illustrating both every day and ceremonial moments on Country, expressing language through visual storytelling.
Shaun will be joined in conversation by Sonya Takau, Founder of Dingo Culture, to discuss Indigenous cultural lore of the Dingo, language renewal, and contemporary advocacy.
About the presenters
Shaun Edwards
Shaun Edwards is a Kokoberrin artist, Ma Wanjibung Pukun of the Dingo Clan from the Staaten River region of Cape York. A multidisciplinary creative working across visual art, storytelling, music and performance, his practice is grounded in language, lore, ancestral memory and cultural responsibility. Through his work, Shaun explores identity, cultural continuity and the activation of old stories in contemporary forms. He is the founder of Wild Barra Co, where he leads creative projects, workshops and collaborations that centre First Nations voices and community connection.
Sonya Takau
Sonya Takau is a Jirrbal Rainforest Aboriginal woman and the Founder of Dingo Culture, a digital media platform dedicated to protecting the Dingo and other culturally significant totemic animals and plants. She is a strong advocate for the restoration and recognition of Indigenous peoples’ rights and relationships with the Dingo, and for the acknowledgement of Indigenous understandings of the Dingo’s cultural, spiritual and ecological significance within contemporary legal and environmental frameworks.
