🚤 Basic Boating Safety Course – Get Certified for the 2026 Boating Season!Get ready for a safer, smarter, and more confident boating season! Join us for the PA Basic Boating Safety Course, taught by PA Fish & Boat Commission Officer Michael Blair.
This in-person course provides essential, real-world boating knowledge designed specifically for Pennsylvania recreational power boaters. Whether you are new to boating or simply need your certification, this class gives you the tools you need to stay safe and compliant on the water.
🗓 Dates:
• Saturday, April 11, 2026
• Saturday, May 2, 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
🍴 Lunch: Please bring a bagged lunch (prompt return after break is required)
💲 Cost:
• $15 class participation fee
• $10 payable to the PA Fish & Boat Commission for your official certificate
👥 Class Size: Limited to 25 participants per session
📘 What You’ll Learn:
• State & federal boating laws
• Navigation rules and communications
• Safe boat operation and emergency procedures
• Waterway awareness and other water activities
• Safety equipment and rescue techniques
The course consists of six chapters followed by a 50-question multiple-choice exam. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass.
🎓 Certification Required For:
• All personal watercraft (Jet Ski) operators, regardless of age
• Boat operators born after January 1, 1982 operating motorboats over 25 horsepower
This course meets NASBLA national standards, and certification is accepted in most states with mandatory boating education requirements.
