About this Event
This will be a fun Saturday morning installing Oyster Rag Pots. We will meet at the end of Wellon Ranch Road (80th Ave E) in Parrish, load the floats, make a train of them, haul them out to Eileen Reef, show off some of the ORPs that have been out there for over a year and are covered with oysters, and get to installing oyster rag pots! Once we're done with that we'll tow the floats back and load the empty bins back into the the cargo trailers and eat some lunch! We will provide delicious taco's from MP Markets in Palmetto - they don't have non-meat options (sorry - but they are delicious tacos)
The installation site is approximately a 0.5-mile paddle from the launch point. Water depths will range from knee- to waist-deep.
If you’re sensitive to cooler temperatures, consider wearing a wetsuit.
Required:
- Closed-toe shoes (seriously—this is a semi-muddy area with sharp oysters)
- Sun protection
- Your own paddle craft or shallow-water boat and somethign to tie it off to an anchor point.
- Water bottle
- A can-do spirit and desire to have some fun doing good for the environment.
