Oyster Botanics is proud to present the debut release of Pflanzkultur, ‘Birdsong and Memory / All That Has Been Before Will Come Again’ (OB003). The double-sided single sees the Tasmanian artist and label co-founder share an exciting first glimpse into his creative world.
To celebrate, we’re throwing a grand party at The Grand Poobah featuring an exclusive Pflanzkultur DJ set. The lutruwita-based producer will pay homage to his club and festival roots, serving up a signature blend of warm house and leftfield techno with notes of disco, garage and jungle. In support we’ll have ZOË, a fine purveyor of Latin groove with a deep house sensibility. We'll be taking over the Kissing Room with music from 8 pm. It’s sure to be one for the OB books.
The release itself is a fitting exploration for an exciting first outing on the Oyster Botanics label. A-side ‘Birdsong and Memory’ is a rhythmic paean to the Tasmanian coastal bushland and its ability to inspire reflection. Interlude ‘Time’s Path’ then provides a sparkling meditation into the infinite, its spoken-word finale transcending both space and time. ‘All That Has Been Before Will Come Again’ is a more clubby affair, offering up a deeper cut of leftfield techno. Searching synths meet rushing hi-hats. Pulses flutter and build to a polyphonic crescendo, revealing a panorama of synthetic textures accompanied by the analogue drive of a drum machine.
