About this Event
Oxford China Forum is a student-led annual conference at the University of Oxford, bringing together scholars, diplomats, practitioners, and students to discuss China and global change.
The 13th Oxford China Forum is themed “Light Emerging from the Earth”, focusing on how societies respond to new progress and new challenges while remaining grounded in human values, practice, and responsibility.
Forum highlights
🤖 AI: From Education to Industry – examining how artificial intelligence is reshaping learning, research and industrial structures, and asking how technological efficiency can coexist with human agency and responsibility.
🌱 The New Dimension of Vocation – exploring how digital transformation and the green transition are redefining work, career paths and organisational structures.
🤝 Our World, Our Future – focusing on youth, South-South cooperation, and the relationship between development and nature in a changing global landscape.
📖 Litereature in the era of AI – examining the implications of increasingly sophisticated AI-generated writing and how authorship, creativity and literary value may be redefined in a new technological era.
♀️ Feminism in Contemporary China – examining how women’s voices are increasingly articulated through social media, online fiction and gaming cultures, and discussing how this enables empowerment and reproduce gender imbalances in new forms.
Across the forum, speakers include leading academics, policy experts, diplomats, and entrepreneurs from China and the UK. Sessions combine keynote talks, panel discussions, and audience Q&A, with an emphasis on dialogue rather than one-way lectures.
The forum is designed for those who are interested in China, global affairs, technology, sustainability, and long-term career choices, and who value serious discussion over promotional events.
