Located at the enclosed shelter at Lake Cornelia CampgroundJoin us for our OWLS program with Wright County Conservation. OWLS stands for older, wiser, livelier, souls and is meant to be a way for those 55+ and older to connect with others and our environment through different nature related activities and programs.
March OWLS will be guided hike to search for some of the first flowers to bloom each year; spring ephemerals. Spring ephemerals are woodland flowers that usually signal the start of spring. These flowers get the name "ephemeral" as they are short-lived and only bloom for a couple of weeks during the whole year. Don't miss out on seeing these beautiful flowers!
April OWLS we will be hunting for mushrooms, including morels! We will learn about the different kinds of fungi in Iowa, some tips for mushroom hunting, and things to consider while hunting for edible mushrooms.
(Please note we will learning about foraging, however, it is not advised to consume wild mushroom before consulting an expert and we will not be consuming or recommending consuming wild mushrooms during this program.)
Please Note: Activities and locations are subject to change. Please follow the discussion for updates.
