Join the Ottawa Voyageurs for a repeat of our Canada Day walk.Day: Tuesday, July 2
Location: Start from NCC Parking Lot (P1) Rockcliffe Park. (After turning onto the Rockcliffe Driveway (one-way traffic) from Sir-George-Etienne-Cartier Pkwy, continue past the first parking lot, 3/4 of the way around, to parking lot P1 on the left.
Registration: 9:00-09:25 with the group walk starting at 9:30
Cost: $1 for OVO members, $2 for non-members. Children & Teens, 16 and under, walk for free.
Distances: 5 km and 10 km routes will be available. Instructions are attached
Washrooms: Available at the Pavilion (shortly after starting the walk) and also at the Visitor's Centre, Rideau Hall
Parking: Free parking at the start point.

When On Shared Paths Stay to the Right and Watch for Cyclists
1. From the parking area, exit towards Rockcliffe Parkway. Turn right and walk along the right-hand side of the road – you are on a shared path – to the steps on the right at the Rockcliffe Pavilion. Go up the steps then continue to the right on the paved path as it goes behind the Pavilion. Continue on the path as it curves left (washrooms on left) to the triple “Y”. Turn right onto the path, parallel to Sir- George-Etienne-Cartier Pkwy, (SGEC Pkwy) and continue downhill. Cross the Rockcliffe Driveway exit to the zebra crossing and keep left to cross the SGEC Pkwy.
2. After crossing the SGEC Pkwy, keep right on the sidewalk (black fence on your left) along Princess Ave to the steps on the left at the Confederation Blvd sign, flag with red tulips (look up). Go up the steps, straight ahead to the black metal gate and enter the grounds of Rideau Hall.
3. Shortly after going thru the gate, turn right on the path (blue Visitor Centre sign). At the “T” (washrooms in yellow building ahead, bench on left), keep left to the first trail / path on the right. Follow this path, passing the rose gardens on the left, to the water fountain. Turn right on the path to exit the grounds at McKay St. (no sign). Cross, turn right a bit to Union St and turn left.
4. Walk along Union St for 3 blocks to River Ln and turn left to Dufferin Rd. Turn left, cross MacKay St and continue on Dufferin Rd to the end at Lisgar / Rideau Terrace. Carefully cross and turn left to continue along Lisgar to the intersection at Princess Ave and Lisgar Rd.
5. Keep right to continue along Lisgar Rd (at Buena Vista, if pathway is not busy with cyclists, use pathway) to the end at SGEC. Cross Lisgar and continue a short distance to the steps on the right. Go up the steps and turn left along Rockcliffe Rd, which changes to Manor Ave, to Coltrin Rd.
6. Turn left and walk along Coltrin Rd to Acacia Ave then turn left to the entrance on the right into the Rockcliffe Rockeries. Stay on this path all the way to the small parking lot at Hillsdale Rd and Cloverdale Rd. Continue straight ahead on Hillsdale Rd to the entrance to the Caldwell-Carver Conservation area. Carefully cross Hillsdale Rd and enter the conservation area.
7. Stay on the path, keeping the water on the right. At the “T” keep right with the black chain fence on your left. Continue on the trail, water to the right, until you exit at Bittern Crt. Go up the steps and ahead on Bittern for a short distance to Whitemarl Dr. Turn right to Hemlock Rd. (6.86km)
8. Turn right at Hemlock Rd for one block to Landsdowne Rd S. Turn right then take the path on the right (at intersection with Mariposa) to continue along the lake to Old Prospect Rd. Turn left along Old Prospect Rd, cross Cloverdale Rd and veer slight left to go up the paved path to Fernhill Rd. Go straight ahead to Acacia Ave then cross and turn right to Buchan Rd. Turn left to Mariposa Ave.
9. At the corner of Buchan Rd and Mariposa Ave, take the path on the right to go through the park out to Springfield Ave. Ave. Turn left one block to Mariposa then cross Mariposa and Springfield to continue walking along Mariposa Ave. Stay on Mariposa to the end at Lisgar Rd.
10. Turn left along Lisgar, which becomes Princess Ave after the bend in the road. At Princess Ave, carefully cross and keep right (Rideau Hall will be on the left) to walk along Princess. Continue to the traffic circle. Turn right to cross at the two zebra crossings. Continue half way around the traffic circle and turn right on Rockcliffe Driveway (no sign, watch for oncoming traffic). When the path on the right ends, continue along the Driveway on the shared pathway back to the finish at P1 parking lot.

Canada Day 2024 Roaming Rockcliffe Pk – CVF 10697 Parking Lot P1, Rockcliffe Park
5KM Route Difficulty 1B
Washrooms available close to start and at Rideau Hall.
1. From the parking area, exit towards Rockcliffe Parkway. Turn right and walk along the right-hand side of the road – you are on a shared path – to the steps on the right at the Rockcliffe Pavilion. Go up the steps then continue to the right on the paved path as it goes behind the Pavilion. Continue on the path as it curves left (washrooms) to the triple “Y” (water fountain). Turn right onto the path, parallel to the Sir-George-Etienne-Cartier Pkwy (SGEC) and downhill to the traffic circle. Cross the Rockcliffe Driveway exit to the zebra crossing and go left to cross the SGEC Pkwy.

After crossing the SGEC Pkwy, keep right and continue on the sidewalk (black fence on left) along Princess Ave to the steps on the left at the Confederation Blvd sign, flag with red tulips (look way up). Follow this path, passing the rose gardens on the left, to the water fountain. Turn right on the paved path to exit the grounds at McKay St. (no sign). Cross, turn right a bit to Union St and turn left.
4. Walk along Union St for three blocks to River Ln and turn left. Continue to the end of River Ln at Dufferin Rd and turn left. Cross MacKay St and continue along Dufferin Rd to the end at Lisgar / Rideau Terrace. Carefully cross and turn left on Lisgar for 1.5 blocks to Maple Ln. Turn right to Howick St. Turn left on Howick to Mariposa Ave.
5 Turn left along Mariposa, cross Minto Pl and continue to the end at Lisgar Rd. Turn left on Lisgar Rd and continue to the intersection with Princess Ave. Carefully cross at the intersection and keep right to walk along the left-hand side of Princess Ave (Rideau Hall on the left behind the black iron fence) to the traffic circle.
6.In a counter-clockwise direction, cross the two zebra crosswalks to the opposite side of the traffic circle. Turn right on the Rockcliffe Driveway, black road barrier (one-way sign). Walk on the right in the shared bike and pedestrian lane, facing on-coming traffic. Continue on the Rockcliffe Parkway to the first road on the right (P1) and return to the start point.
Distance: Approx 5.18 km
