Join the OVFGC for our December meeting were we welcome Matthew Ampersand of find out farms, presenting: Bringing The Beauty of California To Your Garden
How can we incorporate where we live into our gardens? California is one of the most beautifully biodiverse places in the world! In this presentation, you'll learn some basics about gardening with California native plant species. We will discuss timing, sourcing, and starting plants from seeds. Get some insight into growing blooms that will attract local birds, pollinators, and beneficial insects to your yard.
Matthew Ampersand suffers from insatiable curiosity. With a background in informal education and a passion for ecology, food, and community he founded find out farms, where he curates educational programming and runs a native plant nursery. He produces events around food and ecology, maintains dozens of native plant gardens in Sacramento County, and gets easily distracted trying to identify insects.
OVFGC's mission is to encourage farming and gardening education and enthusiasm throughout Orangevale and surrounding areas.
Free. Donation suggested. Gardeners and friends from all areas are welcome to join us as guests or Members. The educational talk will be held at 9am, and we invite you to stay for the business meeting and hear the latest Club news. This will also be our Holiday celebration - watch the Discussion for info about potluck and gift exchange!
Our sharing tables will be available, and we invite you to bring any extra seeds, plants, harvest, etc. to share with fellow meeting goers.
