Overflow After Dark

Overflow After Dark was birthed out of the vision to provide local artists and entrepreneurs with a professional platform to showcase their work. Overflow After Dark is an interactive music experience fusing the heart of blues, soul, and jazz from generations past to the present. Overflow After Dark will be hosted at Overflow Coffee—the former home of Vee-Jay Records.

Overflow’s October 16th event—the second in our concert series at 1449 S Michigan—will feature present-day Chicago-based artists Ryan Alexander and Jessie Defranco.

Ryan Alexander has been playing the piano and drums for over 16 years and has been writing and producing music for 11 years. Ryan's music is a mixture of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul—creating his own genre of New Wave Soul. He believes in making music for the future, working harder than the next person, getting better than before, and not just creating, but innovating.

Raised in Houston and now based in Chicago, Jessie DeFranco Jessie writes music to take the listener on a journey through the depths and peaks of the human condition and experience. Most inspired by the sounds of Jordan Rakei, Moonchild, and Nick Hakim, Jessie takes influence from her favorite, progressive musicians within the realms of Jazz, Soul, and R&B. However, her ethereal vocals allow her to blend and transcend these genres.

Doors open at 6pm. The coffee bar will be open for food and beverage orders.
