“Overcoming” ..songs.. stories.. drama… by Sweet Grits

Friends from the hills of Kentucky and USSR’s Ukraine join forces for their theatrical and musical storytelling. Jointly named Sweet Grits, the duo’s performance features songs and stories drawn from ’s life and clinical practice as a therapist and ’s prodigious musical talents.

Singer, songwriter, and storyteller shares tales drawn from her personal life and professional experience as a therapist, coach, and consultant. Her collaborator, , a “recovering classical musician,” arranges, composes, and plays a wide mix of styles and genres on multiple instruments. They combine their talents as the duo Sweet Grits.

This benefit performance is offered in addition to Quakers’ free open house programs, ongoing every month on fourth Sundays from April 2025 to April 2026. The public is invited to attend any or all open house events, which include:

• Worship from 10 to 11 am. This is traditional “silent” Quaker worship. All are welcome, but no one is expected to attend in order to participate in other activities.
• Potluck meal at 11:30 am. Bring a dish to share.
• Free activity at noon on March 22: Community Mending Stitching Circle. Bring clothing or other textiles and join others to replace buttons, hem, patch, sew up rips, embroider, etc. Bring your garment and your own supplies. Needles and thread will be provided if you forget yours. Get cozy in this helpful circle of friends as we connect and stitch together.
