Overcome! Yoga and the Art of Self-Regulation is an evidence-based and holistic approach to managing and overcoming chronic stress, anxiety, and other forms of nervous system dysregulation. It focuses on developing an understanding of dysregulation and the exploration of tools and techniques to address the physiological, emotional, and behavioural elements of self-regulation.Using education and experience, each session includes an exploration of breath, mindfulness practices, gentle yoga (no experience required), meditation, guided relaxation, and several other tools and techniques that build nervous system resilience.
Participants in this 6-week group series will learn about:
• Nervous system dysregulation and self-regulation;
• The stress response and the relaxation response;
• The brain and body in the stress response;
• How triggers are formed and how they are programming errors;
• How the brain can be reprogrammed to react differently;
• Many techniques for regulating the nervous system (counteracting dysregulation);
• Yoga philosophy and yoga practices for regulating the nervous system.
With effort and commitment, participants can expect to:
• Find relief from chronic stress, anxiety, and trauma;
• Increase their capacity to regulate emotional, physical, and behavioural reactions to stressors; and,
• Improve nervous system resilience.
This program is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment but is a valuable compliment and support to these modalities should you already be utilizing them.
The program fee includes an intake conversation with the facilitator, participation in the sessions, a course manual, journal, and other supporting items.
