7:30pm: Melanie Sawyer, a History Channel ALONE Season 10 Participant, discusses how history created her success and abundance in the Arctic.
Melanie Sawyer’s success in staying alive and feeding well in the middle of the Arctic consisted of adapting to each and every challenge that arose, utilizing her modern-day bushcraft survival skills and her knowledge of living history of the 18th century.
Melanie will speak honestly and frankly about her time out in the Arctic as one of 10 participants of History Channel’s ALONE show. Beating out 43,000 other applicants, Melanie was dropped in the Arctic as winter was falling with 10 items and camera equipment to film her time in the Canadian wilderness.
Melanie used her wilderness survival skills and historical foraging knowledge to adapt to every challenge presented to her. She will talk about her strategy to feed herself in such a challenging environment as well as adding a few, “I wish I had done this,” and some stories not previously shown on the show. Melanie presents in an open and relaxed manner and will happily answer questions following her presentation.
