About this Event
Join the Freshkills Park Alliance and learn important basic outdoor skills, including Shelter Making, Essential Knots, and Firecraft. This hands-on, engaging workshop will demonstrate how to:
- ⛺ Create a reliable tarp shelter.
- 🪢 Tie some essential knots used in a variety of situations.
- 🔥 Explore best practices for making and managing a safe fire.
We will end the workshop with s’mores!
📌 Location: We will meet at the parking lot adjacent to our FKO Building, located at 2240 Richmond Ave. Staten Island, NY 10314.
Limited parking is available.
This location is most conveniently served by the S44, S59, S94, and SIM4C bus routes.
🎟️ Ticket Info: Each ticket admits 1 person. This workshop is open to Ages 8+ and minors must remain accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Anyone coming on-site must reserve a ticket for themselves.
Space is very limited. This workshop is free, but registration is required.
