About this Event

Outdoor Odyssey: Skiing for Beginners and Beyond

Outdoor Odyssey (formerly known as Becoming an Outdoors Woman- Utah [BOW]) is hosting a downhill skiing workshop on January 26 to introduce adults (18+ years old), especially women, to basic downhill skiing in a positive and empowering environment.

Join us for an exciting day of downhill skiing at Eagle Point Resort in Beaver County! Learn the basics of skiing or improve the skills you already have during a two-hour lesson with expert instructors. Participants will be grouped by ability for the lessons, so whether you're a beginner or have some experience, there's something for everyone. After the lesson, you'll have a couple of hours to practice your newly acquired skills. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy the thrill of skiing in the beautiful surroundings of Beaver, UT. Grab a friend or just plan to meet new friends and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

When: Monday, January 26, from approximately 7:00am-7:00pm

Who: Adults, especially women (18+ years old) - No experience necessary

Where: Eagle Mountain Resort in Beaver County, UT. We will meet at the USU Extension Office in Washington County at 7:00 am and carpool to Beaver, where we will stop at Tucker High Adventure Tours to grab our gear. (If you are travelling from somewhere besides Washington County and would like to meet in Beaver, please reach out to Andrea at [email protected] to make arrangements.) We will be at the Eagle Point Resort from around 10:00 am until approximately 4:00 pm. We will be returning to Washington County around 7:00 pm. (Please note that times are subject to change, so please keep the day flexible.) We will coordinate travel in more detail just prior to the January 26 ski date.

Cost: $75 - The fee includes:

  • lift ticket for January 27
  • rental equipment
  • 2 hours of group lessons
  • approximately 2 hours of free skiing
  • an opportunity to enjoy the company of others who may be trying a new adventure

What you need to bring:

  • clothing appropriate for the activity - warm pants (snow pants or water resistant pants, no jeans), thermals or other warm layers, warm coat, gloves/mittens, good socks, goggles(optional)
  • sack lunch and snacks (if desired)
