About this Event
Outdoor Odyssey (formerly known as Becoming an Outdoors Woman - Utah [BOW]) is hosting a Friday workshop to introduce adults, especially women, to ice fishing. Join a fun group of folks as we venture to Panguitch Lake to explore the sport of ice fishing. Our instructors, Terri and Sue, will show us the basics as we learn about equipment and techniques for catching fish under the frozen surface of the lake. They will take us out onto the frozen lake and show us how to drill through the ice, how to use an ice fishing pole, and a myriad of other details necessary for a successful ice fishing outing.
You can carpool with us from Hurricane or meet us in Panguitch for an amazing day as we disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life and technology (we won't have cell service at the lake) and enjoy the company of other women as we learn this outdoor skill together.
Details:
When: Friday, January 30, 2026, 6:30am-approximately 5:00pm. We will gather at the USU Extension office in Washington County, 339 South 5500 West Hurricane, UT 84737 (at the county fairgrounds), at 6:30am and carpool to Panguitch Lake where Terri and Sue will meet us to lead us on our adventure. We will return to the Extension office around 5:00pm. If you would rather meet us in Panguitch, please let Andrea know in the registration. (I know it's an early start but the fishing is best in the morning.)
Who is invited: All adults, especially women, (must be at least 18 years old) who are interested in learning about ice fishing. No experience necessary.
Cost: $15
What to bring: You will need to bring plenty of layers of warm clothes, snow boots or other appropriate winter boots to keep your feet warm and dry, a camp chair, and a fishing license. (You can obtain a fishing license online at https://wildlife.utah.gov/licenses/fees.html)
We will provide equipment, lunch, and a day full of fun and adventure. We will also organize a carpool for those interested. So, tap into your spirit of adventure and prepare to check off "learn to ice fish" from your bucket list. Space is limited - register early.
In the case of inclement weather, or insufficient ice on the lake, we will work with participants individually to transfer the funds to a future event or to discuss the possibility of a refund.
If you have questions, please reach out to Andrea at 435-301-7740 or [email protected].
