In 1893 a lonely figure stood on the gallows at the Adelaide Gaol. Accused and convicted of murdering her husband, Elizabeth Woolcock would go on to be the only woman ever hanged in South Australia. Her case has become one of the most hotly contested criminal cases in Australian history with many insisting her innocence to this day.

In 1908 an arrogant, cocky 19 year old crook named Squizzy Taylor found himself in Pentridge Prison for the first time. Little did he know that he was about to come face to face with the older and harder remnants of the infamous Crutchie Push gang. In a final showdown with Crutchie leader, Valentine Keating, only one person could be left standing.
