The members of PALE RIBBONS TOSSED INTO THE DARK are heavily involved in Boorloo/Perth’s exploratory music scene, Djuna Lee as a jazz bandleader (jalan jalan, Rif Mountain), Jameson Feakes as a guitarist in various projects (Heathcote Blue, GreyWing Ensemble), and Michael Terren as an experimental electronic musician and pianist. Together, their work is informed by traditions like post rock, ambient, improvised music and electroacoustic music, while unbeholden to any of them.
PEDRO ALVAREZ is an independent composer, improviser, educator and activist born in Chile and currently based on Whadjuk-Noongar land. Having been professionally trained in the European classical tradition, in recent years his musical practice has increasingly focused on free improvisation and Andean folk music, looking for meaningful ways of articulating these three musical streams in his creative work.
PLAY GROUP unites some of the most accomplished Perth musicians exploring the experience of parenthood through improvised music. Alice Humphries is a composer working across contemporary classical, jazz and experimental worlds. Jessica Carlton is a trumpet player and composer whose bands have performed extensively across Australia. Thea Rossen is a wide-ranging percussionist, composer and educator; and Felicity Groom is a producer and composer producing soundscapes for various choreographers.
Outcome Unknown acknowledges the support of the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries.
