Outback Ramblings: Eszter Bornemisza
Eszter returns to Timeless Textiles Gallery for her fifth exhibition.
This exhibition reflects on a remarkable 2023 journey through Australia from south to north when Eszter was last in Australia.
Using different vehicles to cross the outback opened up encounters with striking landscapes, wildlife, and vegetation—each region offering its own rhythms and surprises. Over the course of a month there was ample time for ramblings across the land, to gaze, listen, and unwind while taking in the endless horizon. The shifting colours and the boundless sense of space left a lasting imprint, shaping both visual and emotional impressions.
The works in this exhibition revisit those experiences through an abstract, intuitive lens. Some pieces evoke the vastness and stillness of the outback, as well as the map of routes taken, while others respond more subtly to textures, colours, and fleeting moments observed along the way.
The works also draw inspiration from contemporary Aboriginal art, recognising its profound visual language and deep relationship to land and story.
Together, these pieces form a personal reflection on roaming across these immense and extraordinary lands, and the quiet transformations encountered along the journey.
Join us for the opening event 8 January 6pm - 7.30pm
The exhibition will be showing at Timeless Textiles 7 January - 15 February 2026
