About this Event
Out of the Mouths of Boys is a provocative, bilingual (ASL & spoken English) stage play that centers Black men’s stories in a cultural moment of reckoning. Through the lives of Deaf and hearing men, the play examines how sexual harm, emotional abuse, power, and silence shape Black masculinity—often long before the men themselves have language for what they experienced.
As memories surface and narratives collide, moments once dismissed as jokes, rites of passage, or unspoken truths are reexamined. The work asks difficult questions about consent, survival, complicity, and vulnerability, creating space for stories rarely told aloud. Positioned within the broader #MeToo era, Out of the Mouths of Boys amplifies a #MenToo conversation—one that acknowledges Black men not only as witnesses, but as survivors navigating trauma, identity, and healing in a world that rarely makes room for their pain. This production is intended for mature audiences.
